Lightweight Felix Verdejo earned a knockout victory over Marco Antonio Lopez in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico with a devastating fifth round knockout.

Verdejo, whom is being touted as the next Puerto Rico superstar showed an ability to box, but then when comfortable to get off his offensive output as he stopped Morales with a left hand that seemed to freeze Lopez in his tracks as it took a second for Lopez to be removed from his feet. Lopez would get to his feet, but be removed once again as the fight was stopped quickly there after.

This was Verdejo’s best performance to date as he performed well on UniMas. Veredjo’s next fight will be a major step up as he fights the undefeated Ivan Najera on June 13th at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The fight is rumored to be Verdejo’s debut on HBO as well. The card will be headlined by the return of Nicholas Walters defending his WBA Featherweight Title against a yet to be named opponent.
