Mayweather-Pacquiao event tallied 600 million dollars

According to Forbes.com, the fight of the century between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao netted a total revenue of 600 million dollars for the fight. The number eclipses other numbers for boxing events in the past , but also paints a negative neoliberal, business minded approach to boxing that is ‘just get your money – don’t worry about the fans’.

The long lasting destain for the fight I feel has not been, because of the fight itself, it was the fact that nothing was made for the fans, nearly everything was money grab and by the time the event came to fruition people were already tired of being abused financially. It will forever be a fight remembered for what it wasn’t rather than what it was and the high gross number that it produced is just another factor.
