Danny Jacobs Stops Sergio Mora in Two Rounds

In the opening bout of the Premier Boxing Champions from The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on ESPN, saw a wild opening bout as Danny “The Miracle Man” Jacobs (30-1 27KOs) defended his WBA “world” middleweight title Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora (28-3-2 9KOs) via technical stoppage in the second round.

The bout which might be up for fight of the year was some of the best action of the year as both Danny Jacobs and Sergio Mora traded knockdowns in the first round. The second round saw Mora and Jacobs continue until a right hand folded Mora as it appeared Mora broke his ankle.

“I want a rematch” Sergio Mora said somberly after the fight as he looked perplexed as to why the fight was not ruled a no contest rather than a technical knockout.

Jacobs on the other hand had different views on the fight.

“No rematch, no need for that” said Danny Jacobs when asked afterwards if he would be willing to give Mora a rematch.

Jacobs stated that he was interested in the idea of a bout between himself and Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin at The Barclays Center in a battle for Brooklyn, NY. As for the first round knockdown, Jacobs simply reflected “I said did a guy with nine knockouts just put me on the ground?”
