Mosley defeats Mayorga in comeback fight
In an ugly main event, Shane Mosley (48-9-1 40KOs) knocked out Ricardo Mayorga (31-9-1 25KOs) in the sixth round of his comeback fight from The Forum in Inglewood, CA. The fight was weird, it had it’s moments, but it more or less looked like two forty year old men with Mayorga often keeping his hands low partially out of being Mayorga, a rebellious risk taker and partially out of the fact Mayorga trained for this fight out of a fitness gym in an upscale Southern California suburb.
Mayorga who was beat on for the majority of the fight finally mounted some offense that hurt Mosley and stunned him in the sixth round only to get stopped minutes later with seconds left in the round. The punch that did it, a shot to the liver, the way Mayorga responded, classic Mayorga. Rather than beating the count Mayorga stayed on the mat acting as though the punch was low.
In a fringe fight of the year contender, Maureen Shea (24-2-1 12KOs) and IBF world super bantamweight female champion, Yulihan Alejandro Luna Avila (12-2-1 1KO) found themselves fighting to a hard fought draw. Shea would start the fight strong, but found herself getting outworked in the later stages of the bout. The judges scored the fight 95-95, 97-93 Avila and 98-92 Shea.

Diaz who let loose a wide variety of punches seemingly hurt Arceo in the first two rounds showed also an ability to get hit by a less skilled opponent who landed a bit more than one would of hoped for in this bout. In the third round, Arceo fought back well even stunning Diaz Jr. , but the signs were there as Arceo headed back to the corner with blood all over his face. One round later after being dropped to the canvas, the referee
