Sullivan Barrera now IBF light heavyweight #1 contender

Sergey Kovalev has a new foe on the horizon as in an IBF light heavyweight eliminator Sullivan Barrera (17-0, 12 KOs) scored a fifth round TKO over Karo Murat (27-3-1, 17 KOs), who is most known for losing to Bernard Hopkins, on Saturday night at the Glendale Civic Auditorium in Glendale, California. Barrera dropped Murat at the end of round four, a knockdown that Murat never recovered from. In the following round Barrera earned a technical stoppage over Murat with only 25 seconds into the round.

Future Gennady Golovkin foe middleweight Arif “The Mayhem” Magomedov (17-0, 10 KOs) scored a seventh round KO over southpaw Jonatan “Oso” Tavira (12-4, 9 KOs). Magomedov dropped Tavira in rounds four and seven in route to the stoppage win.

Egis Kavaliauskas (11-0, 10 KOs) scored a second round knockout over Pablo Mungia (21-10-1, 12 KOs). Welterweight Francisco “Chia” Santana (23-4-1, 11 KOs) returned to form after his lose to Sadam Ali, scored a sixth round KO over Arman Ovsepyan (14-6-11 KOs). Super welterweight Aleksander Besputin made his pro debut by scoring a second round knockout over Fernando Paliza (5-2, 5 KOs). The opening bout of the from the Glendale Civic Auditorium Konstantin Kupianskii of Russia made his pro debut in winning a unanimous decision over Reggie Young (0-2).
