Arthur Abraham-Gilberto Ramirez purse bid set for Friday

Although Team Sauerland, promoter of super middleweight titlist Arthur Abraham (44-4, 29 KOs), who has only lost once since getting beat all around in the Super Six tournament and Top Rank the promoter of mandatory challenger Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (33-0, 24 KOs) are negotiating the fight it looks more and more like it will go to a purse bid, which has been scheduled for Friday, according to the WBO. The minimum bid is $300,000, although if they don’t make a deal and the fight goes to purse bid it will likely be much more and likely seven figures.

Why does this matter? Well, Abraham has only lost once in Germany, a place where he also has a large fan base. Top Rank would like the bout to occur on Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley III pay-per-view as the co-main event.
