Tino Avila wins atop LA Fight Club card

Manuel “Tino” Avila (20-0 8KOs) of Fairfield, CA defeated a game Rene Alvarado (23-7 16KOs) to headline LA Fight Club. Avila, who has had to face tough opposition since residing in the rival part of the state from Golden Boy Promotions, Northern California, Golden Boy which is located in Southern California, won a workman like decision over the tough veteran. Most ringside pundits scored the bout 96-94 for Avila, but the judges scored the bout 97-93, 97-93 and 100-90.

 

In the co-main event, Mexican super lightweights Gilberto Gonzalez (26-3, 21 KOs) of Mexico City scored a sixth round stoppage of Luis Arceo (28-15-2, 19 KOs) of Aguascalientes.

Welterweight Marquis Taylor (4-1, 2 KOs) of Houston won a six round split decision over previously unbeaten Oscar Torres (8-1, 4 KOs) who proved to be a limited front foot fight who was unable to adjust. The judges scored the bout 59-55, 59-55 and 58-56.
