Jose Ramirez beats Manny Perez to start Pacquiao-Bradley PPV

In the opening bout of the pay-per-view broadcast from the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, NV, 2012 U.S. Olympian and Avenal, CA’s Jose Ramirez (17-0 12KOs) won a dominant decision over Manny Perez (25-12-1 6KOs) of Colorado at a catchweight of 138 lbs.

Ramirez controlled the action from start to finish while Perez walked forward and presented problem, but the hand speed and angles of Ramirez proved too much. The one negative take away was the fact that Ramirez seemed to get hit a lot by a game and tough veteran, but not quickest or fleet of foot, making one wonder if Ramirez’s last few fights of neglecting distance might be a trend that continues.

Ramirez, who moved from side to side, bloodied Perez who stalked forward eating hard shots and at times frustrating Ramirez. In the final round, Ramirez stunned Perez, but was unable to get the Perez out as he cruised to a decision.

The judges scored the bout 97-93, 98-92, 99-91 for Jose Ramirez
