Deontay Wilder-Chris Arreola rumored for July 16th on FOX

As reported by AL.com, WBC heavyweight title Deontay Wilder is set to make another hometown defense in Birmingham, Alabama.

Wilder will face popular journeyman Chris Arreola on July 16th at the Legacy Arena.

Wilder, who won his world title in January of 2015, and has defended his title three times since winning the strap was set to fight Alexander Povetkin before Povetkin failed a drug test.

Arreola has not lost in the last two years, but also not looked good in his last three fights an argument can be made that he didn’t win a single one despite receiving the official nod. Since Arreola was knocked out by Bermane Stiverne, the man Wilder defeated for the WBC heavyweight title, he went life or death with journeyman Curtis Harper, seemingly outboxed by Fred Kassi and dropped by Travis Kauffman.

The event is being reported to be featured as a Premier Boxing Champions broadcast on Fox.

This would be Wilder’s first fight of the year
