Canelo-Golovkin verbally agreed for 2017

Well it might not be the news most want to hear , but Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez will face each other according to Kevin Iole, but just not until late next year.

Golden Boy Promotions, Alvarez’s promoter, and K2 Promotions, Gennady Golovkin’s promoter, apparently came to a verbal agreement the two fighters will face each other September 2017, which over a year from right now.

Golovkin, the census best middleweight has been on a path to unify the belts of the division, but fight marginal competition as rational fighters who see Golovkin as a threat are either staying at lower weights or moving up in weights.

Alvarez, a former middleweight champion, fights at his own weight class of 155 lbs., a catchweight. Last month, Alvarez vacated the WBC middleweight title, but explained that he would continue to try and make a Golovkin fight.

The big question will be at what weight will the fight be contested at?
