Jason Sosa upsets Javier Fortuna

In a result few predicted super featherweight Jason Sosa (19-1-4, 15 KOs) scored an eleventh round TKO over  world champion Javier “El Abejon” Fortuna (29-1-1, 21 KOs) to claim the WBA super featherweight title on Friday night at the Capital Gym in Beijing, China.

In a competitive fight that Fortuna appeared to be winning, the champion was dropped with a lead left hook in the eleventh round. It appeared Fortuna beat the count, but the contest was waived off. Sosa had fought prior against Nicholas Walters in a bout that was scored a draw, but most felt Walters dominated.

This is Sosa’s first world title.
