Canelo-Smith drop VADA, for some reason tell “…no need for concern”

In another strange move to a bizarre pay-per-view card, neither WBO junior middleweight champion, Liam Smith nor Canelo Alvarez will undergo test from the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA).

Though Golden Boy Promotions has explained that there should be no need for concern as they say it was too late to start drug testing

To play devil’s advocate, drug testing is expensive and this upcoming pay-per-view will more than likely struggle meaning that to find themselves in the black, the drug testing should be scrapped, it just seems like a bad look – with only two or so weeks to go before the fight.

Smith versus Canelo takes place on September 17th in Arlington, Texas at AT&T Stadium and is available to view worldwide via HBO PPV.
