Nietes beats Sosa, hopes for Chocolatito in future

Longtime light flyweight champion Donnie Nietes made his flyweight debut by shutting out Edgar Sosa in the main event from StubHub Center in Carson, California. Nietes hurt Sosa with clean shots at points, but purely outboxed the game veteran to a points decision. It appears they’re moving up in efforts to fight Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez down the road.

All three judges saw the bout 120-108 for Nietes.

The co-main event saw Mark Magsayo go to a twelve round decision with Ramiro Robles. Magsayo had Robles hurt, but lost control of himself as he smothered his work looking to land a hard punch allowing Robles to survive the fight. The bout was scored 118-108, 119-107, 120-106 all for Magsayo.
