Magdaleno wins, Cornejo impresses at LA Fight Club

LA Fight Club returned to the Belasco Theater in Downtown Los Angeles as Diego Magdaleno (29-2, 12 KOs) outworked Art Hovannisyan (17-3-3, 9 KOs) in the main event. All three judges scored the bout 99-91 for Magadaleno.

Hovannisyan was a last minute replacement for Fidel Maldonado Jr who was originally set to take the fight

Lightweight prospect Damon Allen (10-0-1, 4 KOs) looked in over his head at times against Luis Arceo (28-15-5, 19 KOs) as they fought to a draw. Allen was the more skilled fighter, but couldn’t use his distance to keep Arceo in spaces he needed to be forcing the fight to be a draw.

Maricela Cornejo (5-2,2 KOs) defeated Eliza Olson (9-7-3, 2 KOs) to open the television card in a six round super middleweight bout. Cornejo the naturally bigger fighter used movement to negate Olson’s aggression. Olson who hadn’t fought in ten years was game, but proved past her prime. The judges saw the bout 59-55, 59-55, and 58-56.
