Dat Nguyen upsets Miguel Flores, Darwin Prices wins

The Tuesday evening syndicated Fox Sports 1 cards have provided two upsets to start the year as super featherweight veteran Dat Nguyen (20-3, 7 KOs) stopped Miguel Flores (21-1, 9 KOs) by TKO in round six in the main event at Silver Street Studios in Houston, Texas.

Flores decided to try and trade with Nguyen, who was the better inside fighter. This game plan appeared to wear out Flores, who by the fifth round looked gassed out. The sixth saw him hit the canvas and seconds later get stopped in a flurry.

Super lightweight Darwin Price (12-0, 6 KOs) scored an eight round unanimous decision over Hylon Williams (16-4-1, 3 KOs). Price won every round and judges agreed with the scores of 80-72, 80-72, 80-72.

Super bantamweight Brandon Figueroa (11-0, 8 KOs) scored a fourth round KO over Raul Chirino (10-5, 5 KOs). Brandon Figueroa, the younger brother of former WBC champ Omar Figueroa, fought in his typically fashion coming forward, which was too much for Chirino.
