April 8th Richmond, CA card features junior welterweight tournament

Squarevision Entertainment has announced that its April 8th card at the Richmond Auditorium in Richmond, CA will feature the first round of their tournament to crown a Square Warriors junior welterweight champion.

The main event will feature Richmond, CA’s Luis Garcia (6-1-1 5KOs) who is coming off his first career loss taking on Julian Bautista (2-2-2 1KO).

Garcia, a hard punching pro fighter, left his former trainer Jairo Escobar in San Francisco, Ca to train closer to home with Filemon Contreras out of the D.F. Boxing Club in Richmond, CA.

Bautista, on the other hand, fought for the a regional title against Bilal Mahasin two years ago, but was knocked out cold in the fight.

The co-main event will feature Eddie Diaz (3-6-2 1KO) taking on Jhonathan Zamudio (1-4-3) of San Francisco, CA.

Eddie Diaz is coming off his first career KO win as he stopped Luis Garcia in his last bout. Diaz has fought a who’s who list of fighters in his career often coming in as the opponent on short notice, this tournament offers him a chance to rebuild his career.

Zamudio fought Luis Garcia to a draw, but since suffered two losses as he lost to San Jose, CA’s Moises Benitez as well as getting stopped by Abraham Lopez in his last bout.

The winners of each bout will fight for the title later this year.

The rest of the card is as follows: Santa Rosa, CA cruiserweight Mike Russell (1-0 1KO) will fight Kevin Wiley (pro debut), super welterweight Cesar Lomeli (1-0) will face Chris Washington (pro debut) of Dreamland Boxing Center in San Jose, CA, heavyweight Fernando Caro (1-0) of Richmond, CA will take on Kaz Barney (pro debut) of Stockton, CA, Jasper McCargo (2-0 2KOs) who trains out of Lightning’s Boxing Gym in Oakland, CA will face Stephen Austin (pro debut), super lightweight Lennard Davis (1-0-1) will face John Lewis (5-3 2KOs), women’s bantamweight Dalia Gomez (0-1) of Oakland, CA will face Leesa Daniel (pro debut) from Texas, super flyweight Iris Contreras will make her pro debut in Richmond, CA, the same town she trains in, super welterweight Daniel Reynoso (0-0-1) will face Juan Cabrerra (0-1) and San Francisco, Ca’s Willie Shaw (1-0 1KO) who trains with Jairo Escobar will fight as well.
