Liveco Boxing is pleased to announce that Aaron “Heavy Metal” Coley (14-1- 1, 10 KOs) has signed an exclusive promotional contract with the Thousand Palms promoter.

Coley, a 26-year- old middleweight from Hayward, CA has been surging through the boxing ranks since his 2012 pro debut, not only racking up wins but sparring with some of the best in the business, including recent world lightweight champion Andre Ward.

The Hayward, CA southpaw relies on stout defense and a vicious left hook, crumpling fighters with body shots and wearing them down with his command of the ring. Fighting as a welterweight early in his career, he’s moved up to middleweight where he feels stronger and more able to sustain his style of fighting.

“We think he’s well positioned for a title fight in the future,” said Liveco CEO Ron Sanderson. “He’s got poise and experience and doesn’t get rattled in the ring. He is a humble, quiet guy, but he’s a wrecking ball of a boxer when you turn him loose.”

Coley compiled a 40-7 amateur record and collected regional Golden Gloves three times. He eventually ranked as the #6 amateur middleweight in the country when he competed for a spot on the 2012 Olympic team.

His “Heavy Metal” moniker comes from his day job as an employee at his father’s scrapyard. He hauls and sorts heavy steel auto parts like transmissions and brake rotors as part of his job description. But he’s also earning a reputation for making other fighters great while sparring with the likes of Amir Kahn and Miguel Cotto.

Coley battled John Hays for the California lightweight title in 2014, earning a disappointing draw that he says taught him many lessons. Then, in his only loss, he battled 9-0 Ievgen Khytrov on a Showtime fight in 2015 where Coley dropped a decision to the eventual NABF champion. Since that defeat, Coley has reeled off five consecutive wins and is readying for another step up in his career.

“I feel like I’ve got a great coach now in Kris Lopez, plus the backing of Liveco and my managers at CB Boxing,” Coley said. “I felt alone in the ring before. But now I feel like the hard work I’ve been doing is coming together.”
