Adam Kownacki stops Artur Szpilka in four rounds

by Kevin Horn

Heavyweight Adam Kownacki (16-0 13KOs) made a statement stopping former world title challenger Artur Szpilka (20-3 15KOs) in the opening televised bout of boxings return to the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.

The bout was not easy sailing as Szpilka outboxed Kownacki for the first two rounds of the bout as Kownacki’s overt volume, left him mostly hitting air and not Szpilka. This would change as Kownacki would time Szpilka who exited consistently on the same side and was lined up by a right hand.

The fight was called to a halt in the fourth round after Kownacki dropped Szpilka, seconds later a Kownacki flurry ended the fight.
