Omar Figueroa stops Robert Guerrero in three rounds

by Kevin Horn

Former world champions faced each other as welterweight Omar “El Panterita” Figueroa (27-0-1, 19 KOs) ran rough shot through Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (33-6-1, 18 KOs) on Saturday night at the newly-renovated NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Figueroa dropped Guerrero three times in round two and finished him with two more knockdowns in round three.

Guerrero outboxed Figueroa handily in the first round, but Guerrero was dropped three times in the second round and two more times in the third before the referee called the fight off.

This was Figueroa’s first fight with boxing coach Joel Diaz Jr.
