Lara, Charlo and Hurd win on Showtime Triple Header

WBA super world super welterweight champion Erislandy Lara (25-2-2 14KOs) outpointed former 2012 U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha (20-1 9KOs) in the main event of a card in front of roughly 8,000 people at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, broadcast worldwide by Showtime.

Lara was too skilled for Gausha who was offset by Lara’s jab and seemed to be fighting off his back foot all night despite trying to come forward. Gausha was dropped by Lara uppercut in the fourth round, but Lara choose to pick his shots as the fight went all 12 rounds with Lara winning handily.

The judges saw the bout  116-111, 117-110, 117-110.

Jermell Charlo (30-0, 15 KOs) shocked the world with a first-round KO of Erickson Lubin (18-1, 13 KOs). A Charlo right hand laid out Lubin at the end of the first round.

IBF junior middleweight champion Jarrett Hurd (21-0, 15 KOs) picked up a tenth round TKO over former world champion Austin Trout (30-4, 17 KOs). Trout’s corner called a halt to the bout at the end of the tenth. Trout won the first half of the fight with Hurd’s pressure winning him the bout once Trout gassed.
