David Benavidez, Yordenis Ugas win on Showtime undercard

WBC super middleweight champion David Benavidez (20-0, 17 KOs) dominated Ronald Gavril (18-3, 14 KOs) in their rematch on Saturday night at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas to pick a wide unanimous decision. Benavidez used educated pressure with a vicious body attack that neutralized Ronald Gavril. The judges saw the bout 120-108, 120-108, and 119-109.

Yordenis Ugas (21-3, 10 KOs) stopped Philadelphia’s Ray Robinson (24-3, 12 KOs) in an IBF welterweight eliminator in which Ugas was in complete control. Ugas dropped Robinson in the first and seventh round before finishing him off a little over a minute into the first minute of that round.

Light heavyweights Edwin Rodriguez (30-2, 20 KOs) and Lionell Thompson (19-5, 11 KOs) did battle in a ten-round bout. Rodriguez’s experience seemed to win him the fight as he took over late to edge the fight. The judges had the bout 97-93, 97-93, and 96-94 for Rodriguez.

Lightweight Ladarius Miller (14-1, 5 KOs) continues to look impressive picking up a  second-round knockout over Carlos Padilla (16-6-1, 10 KOs).

Lightweight Andres Cortes (7-0, 4 KOs) won a unanimous decision over Fatiou Fassinou (8-9, 4 KOs). The scores were 60-54 on all three cards.

Sulaiman Segawa (9-0, 3 KOs) upset  Brian Gallegos (6-1, 5 KOs) by way of split decision with the judges scoring it 58-56, Gallegos 58-56 two times for Segawa to pull off the split decision.

Middleweight Jonathan Esquivel (7-0, 6 KOs) got a second-round stoppage of  Cameron Burroughs (4-3, 3 KOs)

Joey Spencer (1-0 1KO) stopped Uriel Gonzalez in the opening bout of the evening.
