Malakai Johnson and Jose Delgado fight to a draw in Sacramento, CA

In a battle of unbeaten featherweights “Machine Gun” Malakai Johnson (1-0-1 1KO) of Sacramento, CA fought to a technical draw with Jose Delgado (1-0-2 1KO) of Robert Garcia’s Boxing Academy in Riverside, Ca in the main event of an action-packed night of cards from Uppercut Promotions on May 4th at the DoubleTree Hotel in Sacramento, CA.

Johnson and Delgado exchanged punches in a competitive opening round that was hard to score before the bell rang for the second round the doctor was called to look at a cut on Delgado as the bout was waived off. A rather anti-climatic ending to a fight that was very competitive.

Juaquin Lopez (1-0 1KO) who recently signed with Uppercut Promotions picked up a second-round technical knockout over Darrius Flowers (1-6 1KO).

Welterweight David Melgoza (1-0 1KO) picked up a third-round technical knockout over Nit Phonycheck (0-2) in a fight in which both punchers just hit each other relentlessly.

Jorge Chavez (1-1 1KO) picked up a third-round technical knockout over Shawn Harwood (0-3) in the opening bout.

De’von Abraham of Oakland, CA was suppose to fight, but his opponent left the building after reporting.
