Jaime Munguia stops Sadam Ali, Rey Vargas retains title

In the main event relatively unknown Jaime Munguia was too much for Sadam Ali as Munguia stopped the former champion in the fourth round winning the WBO super welterweight title from the Turning Stone Resort in Verona, New York, which was broadcast on HBO.

Munguia dropped Ali twice in the first round and walked him down from that point forward. Munguia would once again drop Ali in the second round. It just was too much to keep the much bigger man off of him as Ali just couldn’t handle the power of Munguia. The bout came to an end in the fourth round when another knockdown caused the bout to be waived off.

In the HBO opening bout, WBC Super Bantamweight champion Rey Vargas had to dig deep and withstand two cuts in his forehead to pick-up a twelve round unanimous decision over Azat Hovhannisyan.

The judges saw the bout 118-110, 117-111 and 116-112, we saw it much closer
