De’von Abraham, “Chema” Delgado fight to a draw

Hayward, Ca featherweight De’von Abraham (3-0-1 2KOs) and Jose Maria “Chema” Delgado (1-0-3 1KO) fought to a draw at the Agua Caliente Resort and Casino in Rancho Mirage, Ca on Saturday night.

The bout was ugly. Delgado pressed the action early with Abraham standing right in front of him. Abraham made some improvement, but the two found themselves in clinches more often than not. The bout was a headscratcher.

Abraham was the #3 ranked U.S. amateur before turning professional. He is from Orange County, but went to school at Cal State East Bay for college migrated to the Bay Area.

Delgado used to train in Concord, Ca at the CYC gym, but sparred Abner Mares as a southpaw before the Jesus Cuellar fight and moved to Riverside, Ca to train with Robert “Pita” Garcia Jr., the son of future hall of fame trainer Robert Garcia.

The scores were 38-38, 38-37 and 37-39.
