Rob Brant defeats Ryota Murata, Golovkin vs Murata looks to be off

Middleweight Rob Brant went from being a forgotten member of the World Boxing Super Series to the spoiler of a very profitable fight for ESPN and Gennady Golovkin as he defeated Ryota Murata to become the WBA middleweight world champion in the main event of Park MGM event in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The fight was quite simply to see, Murata came forward, but not throwing a ton and saw Brant outbox him and outwork without standing in front of him.

Brant, who was counted out by numerous media members said at the pre-fight press conference “…this was the opportunity of a lifetime” and Brant fought a fight of a lifetime.

As Gennady Golovkin’s promoter, Tom Loeffler sat ringside with hopes of a March bout between Golovkin and Murata in Japan, Brant all, but ruined the bout.

The judges saw it much like myself very one-sided 118-110, 119-109 and 119-109 all for Brant.
