Jaime Munguia, “Rocky” Hernandez to be featured on DAZN

WBO junior middleweight champion Jaime Munguia, and his lead promoter Zanfer Promotions, have reached a deal with Golden Boy Promotions for a multi-fight co-promotional pact, according to ESPN Deportes, this all, but secures that Munguia will at some point in his career fight Canelo Alvarez, Cinco de Mayo 2020 and as previously reported Munguia will fight on January 26th for his first bout on DAZN.

The terms of the deal are being reported as five to six fights under DAZN, which probably means that some type of option exists on the contract such as Munguia would fight Canelo in say his fifth fight and if he were to win or look good they’d have an option to bring him back. This is pure speculation of course.

Munguia partnering with Golden Boy all, but assure him multiple being pay events on Canelo undercards.

Munguia is a 22-year-old power-punching world champion who is best known for his win over Sadam Ali on HBO in which he took the fight on three weeks notice. Since beating Ali, Munguia has beaten Liam Smith and Brandon Cook as it has appeared to look like Golden Boy and Zanfer want to progress him into Canelo Alvarez fight, as Golden Boy Promotions has co-promoted Munguia’s last three fights.

As previously reported January 26, Munguía will defend his championship against Japanese contender Takeshi Inoue with WBC super bantamweight world champion Rey Vargas appearing on the undercard.

Also, #1 contender for the WBC super featherweight title Eduardo “Rocky” Hernandez has reached a deal with Golden Boy Promotions as he will be a mainstay on DAZN and could face WBC super featherweight champion Miguel Berchelt, who is also promoted by Zanfer, IBF super featherweight champion Tevin Farmer as well as WBA super featherweight champion Alberto Machado.

To put it bluntly, Hernandez can get a world title shot against whichever world titleist he wants seemingly in 2019.
