Teofimo Lopez continues dominance, defeats Diego Magdaleno

Lightweight Teofimo Lopez is one of the brightest young stars in the sport of boxing and his star continued to shine bright has beat former world title challenger Diego Magdaleno badly in the co-main event from The Ford Center in Frisco, Texas.

Magdaleno tried to be active and busy in the first round, but the catch and shoot of Lopez was far too much as a late right hand buzzed Magdaleno, who taunted Lopez after the bell. The 21-year-old Lopez busted up Magdaleno’s face in the second round as four and five punch combinations landed.

Magdaleno showed grit and heart, but the naturally smaller fighter was simply outgunned as his best punches just didn’t effect Lopez, the same way Lopez’s punches hurt Magdaleno.

Lopez controlled the remainder of the bout as Magdaleno did what no other fighter up until this point had done with Teofimo Lopez, taken him past six rounds, but barely as Magdaleno was sent to the canvas with a punch with less than ten seconds remaining in the round.

Five-time world champion Timothy Bradley Jr. questioned why the bout was continuing heading into the seventh round, and I agree as Teofimo Lopez brutally knocked out Diego Magdaleno with a left hook.

After the bout, former super bantamweight world champion and brother Diego Magadaleno, Jessie Magdaleno, attempt to confront Teofimo Lopez after Lopez celebrated his victory
