David Melgoza wins in headlining event in Sacramento, CA

In front of a lively crowd in Sacramento, CA at the DoubleTree Hotel, Nasser Navoronni’s Uppercut Promotions returned for their first card of 2019, in a year in which they plan on holding a boxing card at the DoubleTree four times this, one for each quarter of the year.

The main event saw super lightweight David Melgoza (4-0 2KOs) picked up a six-round decision over Osvaldo Sarabina (3-2 1KO). The judges saw the bout 59-55 on all three score cards.

Melgoza is signed to Uppercut Promotions and is their marquee fighter.

In the co-main event, Sacramento, Ca’s Malikai Johnson (4-0-1 3KOs) continued his dominance in the featherweight division as he stopped veteran Corban Page in the fourth round at 0:20 of the round. Johnson is becoming an intriguing prospect who is separating himself from local competition and should be a six round fighter by his next two fights.

Popular super welterweight from San Jose, Ca Chris Washington (3-0 1KO) picked up a majority decision win over previously unbeaten Erick Sanchez (1-1). The scores were all over the place as two were in favor of Chris Washington as 40-36, 39-37 and one having it a draw 38-38.

Washington has faced in his three professional bout all undefeated fighters, no small feat for an unsigned fighter.

Bantamweight Derry Noble (3-0 1KO) outclassed May Garduno (0-2) to pick up a four-round decision. Noble is a decorated amateur, who is an incredibly skilled fighter who isn’t getting his praise, because of the smaller weight class he fights at.

Middleweight Vlacheslav Borschev (1-0 1KO) of Sacramento, Ca, got a second-round knockout of Adrian Ochoa, the time of the stoppage was 1:35. Welterweight Sergio Vega (2-0 2KOs) of Sacramento, CA, picked up a third-round technical knockout over Phillip Schwartz (0-3) and in the opening bout Vikash Deol (1-0 1KO) stopped Aaron Hamilton in the fourth round.
