Avery Sparrow beats Hank Lundy on prelims in Philly

Avery Sparrow (10-1 3KOs) moved up from super featherweight to lightweight to face Hank Lundy (29-8-1 14KOs) and the risk paid off for the Philly native in a prelim bout of the Matchroom USA card from Philadelphia, Pa, broadcast by DAZN.

Sparrow was hurt in the first round as his punches are wide and looping, but with a lot of force behind them despite a low knockout ratio of 30%. Sparrow would regroup as his looping overhand right over Lundy’s guard would drop Lundy twice in the second round. Sparrow from that point on controlled the rhythm of the fight and was just first more often than not, which lead to him controlling the bout.

The judges saw the bout 94-94, 96-92, 95-93, as Sparrow wins by majority decision.
