BOXING RECAP OF ASSORTED SMALLER SHOWS OF THE WEEKEND

This weekend, outside of the ShoBox: The Next Generation card, promoted by Mayweather Promotions, saw no major promotional company, promoting a fight, but fights still happened.

In Clackamas, Oregon, welterweight Steve Forbes returned to action winning a seven-round bout on a card he promoted. The most notable winner on the card, undefeated Victor Morales Jr., a former national champion, picked up a seventh-round stoppage over Marcello Gallardo, a veteran known for hard fights. Other notables from this card lightweight Lorenzo Caldera got a first-round technical knockout over Jerald Gregori, Daquan Wyatt got a second-round technical knockout over Somethonit Phoumychack and Abdul Kamara picked up a four-round decision over Ian King.

L.A.’s Adan Ochoa won a six-round decision over Sacramento, CA’s Mario Ayala to win the GBO super bantamweight regional title. On this card, Stephen McKenna, the brother Aaron McKenna, picked up a a knockout win as well.

In Poland, middleweight Patryk Szymanski technically knocked out Robert Talarek in five rounds, in a punch’em classic. Defense and distance were thrown to the wayside as both just punched. The end result was a lot of knockdowns as both fighters had lapse in concentration causing for an entertaining, but troubling terms of career and longterm health.
