USA Boxing postpones Western Qualifiers out of concerns of COVID-19

Boxing has avoided the pandemic so far, but that was not this case after this morning as USA Boxing sent out a release stating that the Western Qualifiers will be postponed to a date announced at a further time due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

The event which was scheduled to take place from March 21st to March 28th will no longer happen due to heightened concerns about health and safety.

At this time, local events will continue per usual.

One thing to keep your eye on is the March 26th, Americas Continental Qualifier in Buenos Aires, Argentina, that is the first Olympic qualifier, happening roughly at the same time as the now-canceled Western Qualifier. If the Americas Continental is canceled, boxing in the Olympics, as well as the Olympics as a whole could be doomed this year.
