ICYMI: Alex Dilmaghani vs Smir Ziani, A Fight-of-the-Year Worthy Bout

Lightweight Alex Dilmaghani and Samir Ziani may never rule the lightweight division for years to come, and realistically, they may end up in a brutal fight down the road, as a stay-busy for a future legend of the sport, but that doesn’t diminish the fact that when they faced each other they created a regional classic.

The legendary promoter, Don Chargin made a career of matching similar caliber fighters, together, earning him a nickname of ‘War-a-Week’. This fight is an homage to that.

With a form of a regional title on the line, Dilmaghani, a great talker and a fighter with a solid skillset that might not be at the world level, but is close enough, and Ziani, a man who just wants to apply a lot of pressure on people as possible, engaged in brutal fight of will and some skill.

What we got, was a regional version of Erislandy Lara versus Alfredo Angulo, and a fight that probably won’t be seen by many.

If you have time, give it a watch.
