Michael Angeletti Wins Pro Debut, Top Amateur Now Pro

Approximately one year ago, Michael Angeletti was the number one seed at the Olympic Trials in Lake Charles, La, in flyweight divsion. Angeletti lost in a first round shocker to Anthony Olascuaga out of the Maywood Boxing Gym in Maywood, California, then the division went to hell.

Ray Ray Robinson didn’t compete against Angeletti, and Angeletti lost his second elinimator bout to Roscoe Hill via walkover, in odd turn of events.

Angeletti, who resides in Texas, turned pro at bantamweight, and defeated Jerell Barbour via a second round knockout. The fight took place on PBC’s Wednesday night FS1 show, though Angeletti, a swing-bout didn’t make the telecast.

Angeletti is an exciting up-and-coming fighter worth watching, especially if you’re a fan of the lower weights.
