Jean Carlos Torres Looks To Be Next Big PR Fighter In Showtime Fight

Jean Carlos Torres, better known in the Mayweather Boxing Gym as “Lobo” is super lightweight, who has caught the eyes of boxing insiders as he was signed with Mayweather Promotions after being in camp with Gervonta “Tank” Davis in preparation for his pay-per-view clash with Leo Santa Cruz.

Torres has since fought one time with Mayweather Promotions, on the massive event that was Floyd Mayweather’s return to the ring against Logan Paul. The result a second-round KO.

Now Torres is facing a very formidable opponent, and one I know well, I was at his professional debut – in Darwin Price, a multiple time national champion, who lost to Malik Hawkins’ due to injury, but was winning prior to the result. In short, Torres is now facing a fighter, who was once in Torres’ shoes, and is trying to take everything Torres has worked for up until this point.

At 31-years-old, Torres will be fast-tracked as he will be fighting in his 20th bout going 55 rounds in his professional career with an impressive 78% KO percentage. Torres has been boxing for twenty-years, and as an amateur had a 78-15 record, but all that being said nothing matters, if he doesn’t win.

Price is no easy test, as Price was a a decorated amateur who in his prime literally was as fast of a fighter as I had ever seen with track times that mirrored that of the highest level pedigree athletes in the nation. This is not an easy fight, this is a test for “Lobo” Torres, and if he can pass it, he will get a big fight more than likely. The big word is, if.

Torres is trained by Yoel Gonzalez, and when in Puerto Rico works with Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderon, as Torres is looking to be the next major fighter from the island of Puerto Rico.

While most might be look at the main card for the excitement, world titles, and future stars, this bout is an interesting crossroads bout between two very good fighters.
