Michael Williams Jr. to some has burst on the scene as he is now the third opponent Adrien Broner has been scheduled to fight for BLK Prime Boxing’s PPV taking place at Gateway Center Arena, College Park, GA, on February 25th.

The event which is looking to appeal to the Atlanta nightlife crowd as much as fans of boxing will now see Williams Jr. trying to play Rocky against Adrien Broner who is making a comeback both in the ring and in terms of getting his mental health in order.

Yet, those writing off Michael Williams Jr. should take note.

“It is my fault,” said Michael Williams Sr., the father and trainer of Michael Williams Jr. “Roy Jones [Jr.] told me [Williams Jr] couldn’t make 140 lbs anymore, and I didn’t listen.”

The costly mistake ended in a fight at Madison Square Garden in which John Bauza knocked out Williams Jr in a fight that a lot of fight fans can’t forget from their memory.

Williams Jr recalled that he couldn’t go to the bathroom from the weight cut the day prior and the pre-fight drug test was prolonged because of it.

“I couldn’t move to the next station until I did the drug test,” said Williams Jr reflecting on that night. “While other fighters were getting wrapped up and warming up, I was trying to go to the bathroom.”

In short, Williams Jr was bone-dry and the fight itself was the exclamation point on a tough camp filled with a ton of regret. The silver lining is that Williams Jr. looked so mortal in that fight that the six-foot, one-inch welterweight might have gotten the fight, because of that performance.

The quiet confidence is something to take heed of as Williams Jr., is looking to shock the world come February 25th.

Williams Jr., also has a famous supporter, most might not be aware of the popular social media figure, Charleston White.

“Charleston [White] is a Micahel Williams Jr fan,” said Michael Williams Sr, when reflecting on the social media personality showing support to Williams Jr in the build-up.

Though many are writing off Williams Jr., I wouldn’t as, Williams Jr, and his father are saying all the write things in the build-up to this fight.
