Chris Eubank Jr to face Dmitry Chudinov on Tyson Fury undercard

EubankOn February 28th from the 02 Arena in London Chris Eubank Jr. (18-1, 13 KO’s) will return to action against WBA middleweight interim champion Dmitry Chudinov (14-0-2, 9KO’s). The bout will be the co-feature to the heavyweight main Event, Tyson Fury (23-0, 17 KO’s) vs. Christian Hammer (17-3, 10 KO’s). The card will also feature IBF bantam weight champion Paul Butler (17-0, 8 KO’s) taking on IBF super flyweight champion Zolani Tete (19-3, 16 KO’s).

This will be Eubank’s first return to action after losing a close split decision to Billy Joe Saunders (21-0, 11 KO’s) back in November of last year. Saunders will likely have put him self in position to get a shot at the WBO Middleweight World Champion Andy Lee (34-2, 24 KO’s) with the win this past November over Eubank. A shot at the WBA interim title in his first fight back after suffering his first defeat as a pro is still a great opportunity for the 25 year old middleweight.

Frank Warren said, “he is basically being thrown in the deep end again,” when asked about another tough fight against Chudinov for Eubank, but expressed that’s what its going to take for him to get a world title shot.

Chudinov will be coming into the fight off of an impressive TKO victory over Mehdi Bouadla (30-6, 11 KO’s) back in August. After trying to be goaded into a friendly war of words on who the bad guy was Chudinov responded with, “for you I’m probably the bad guy.”

A much more friendly and respectful tone was carried on throughout the press conference, which was not the case in the lead up to the Saunders/Eubank fight. All that will change when these to meet in the ring February 28th at the 02 Arena in London.
