Bay Area Heavyweight LaRon Mitchell returns this Friday in Ontario, CA
Normally heavyweight boxers steal the headlines and the spotlight when they’re riding a knockout streak like LaRon Mitchell (7-0, 7 KOs) of San Francisco, CA , but up until this point Mitchell has had a steady progression silently building an interest through impressive knockout victories, but not getting the national attention others have. Mitchell, who returns this Friday on Thompson Boxing Promotions undercard this Friday, June 26 in Ontario, CA.
Mitchell a soft spoken giant of a man is anything, but that when he his is in the ring as his slick southpaw style is matched with power that has stopped every foe he has faced in the pro game. Mitchell a life-long athlete was a standout football player in junior college and even had tryouts with NFL teams. Mitchell, eventually found his way to MMA and even was a sparring partner for former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez.
Mitchell though was drawn to boxing through the discipline to get really good at one thing and also a chance encounter with Ring of Fire Boxing Gym in Millbrae, CA. Ring of Fire is a boxing gym that focuses on giving free boxing lessons and training to youth to teach young adults the value of hard work and discipline through the sport of boxing. Mitchell reflected in February that once he went into Ring of Fire for the first time he hit it off with everyone and knew this would be his home from now on in his newest athletic endeavors.
Mitchell will be facing Houston-based Roy McReary, a man best known for going the distance with Taishan Dong, aka that Chinese dude on some Golden Boy fights who is really tall. For Mitchell, this is a solid test to see how fairs against a guy who has proven that he can figure out a way to survive when hurt. For more ticket information click here.
