Quillin, Charlo win via violent KOs on NBC

Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (32-0-1 23KOs) returned to form with a vicious knockout of Michael Zerafa (17-2 9KOs) on Saturday afternoon at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, Connecticut. In a fairly lackluster performance, Quillin changed the course of the bout with a violent knockout of Zerafa who was knocked out cold and had to be stretchered out and as of the time of this report, we are unclear about his health as he was unable to regain conscientiousness. The finsh came in the middle of the fifth round.

In the co-main event, Jermall “The New Hitman” Charlo (22-0, 17 KOs) ran through IBF jr middleweight champion Cornelius “K9” Bundrage (34-6, 19 KOs) by third round KO. Charlo dropped Bundrage in every round excluding the last round, the third, in which Charlo dropped Bundrage twice. The final knockout came from a stiff right hand that knocked Bundrage between the ropes forcing the referee to call a stop to the action. Charlo is now the IBF junior middleweight champion.

In the television swing bout, “Sir” Marcus Browne (16-0, 12 KOs) needed only 55 seconds to stop Gabriel Campillo(25-8-1, 12 KOs) who seems that a hard luck career of tough losses and bad knockout defeats might have ended with this last loss to Browne. Browne, a U.S. Olympian is heavily touted as one of the promising New York City fighters to emerge over the neck few years.
