Alejandra “La Tigre” Jimenez (6-0, 4 KOs) defeated WBC female heavyweight champion Martha “The Shadow” Salazar (13-5, 3 KOs) by ten round majority decision on Friday night at the Oasis Arena Grand Hotel Oasis Cancun in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Whether hometown eyes of my own or not, it seemed to be a very close fight that could only be decided by one round that I felt the champion Salazar edged out, but nonetheless the judges saw it differently as they scored the bout 95-95, 96-94 and 98-93 with two judges scoring it for Jimenez. Salazar, the former WBC champion, came out first, uncommon for champions.
