“Sugar” Shane Mosley(49-9-1, 41 KOs) explained to Fernando Pimentel of ThaBoxingVoice.com why he is going to get an interim shot for the WBA on Saturday at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona as he challenged WBA interim welterweight champion David Avanesyan (21-1-1, 11 KOs) for his title.

“After I beat [Ricardo] Mayorga, I went to Panama to fight Patrick Lopez. I only fought him, basically I fought for free, for the honor of his father. His father was very sick, he passed away now…and I said I will come out there if I can get that WBA spot to fight for the interim belt.” said Shane Mosley in explaining how he got the title shot to ThaBoxingVoice.com

 

The fight which takes place on CBS Sports Network also added a new trainer, Roberto Duran, the hall of fame boxer whom he met earlier this year when he fought Patrick Lopez in Panama.
