Matchroom Boxing and K2 Promotions have announced that Gennady Golovkin will defend his IBF, WBA, WBC and IBO Middleweight World titles against IBF Welterweight champion Kell Brook at The O2 in London on September 10, live on Sky Sports Box Office and HBO World Championship Boxing.

The news comes as bizarre to say the least when you take into account that Golovkin fights two weight classes above Brook and considered it a mortal sin to entertain the idea of moving up eight pounds to fight Andre Ward.

The fight which will pit a good small man versus a good big man is the next in the line of leading the lambs to the slaughter publicly as the golden standard was set with Canelo-Amir Kahn
