Danny Garcia fights lesser known foe in Philly homecoming

Welterweight WBC world champion Danny “Swift” Garcia (32-0 18KOs) will return to the ring on Saturday, November 12 in a non-title fight against Colombia’s Samuel Vargas (25-2-1 13KOs) that headlines Premier Boxing Champions on Spike from Temple University’s Liacouras Center in Philadelphia.

Those close to the situation have assured the ITRBoxing.com that this is the last bout before a Keith Thurman-Danny Garcia clash.

The bout is a tad bit underwhelming as Garcia a two weight world champion holding wins over Amir Khan and Lucas Matthysse has now gone roughly two years without a truly anticipated fight and seemingly may have lost two of those bouts to Mauricio Herrera and Lamont Peterson, respectively.

Vargas is a good fighter, but rather unproven at the world level. Last year Vargas to Errol Spence Jr by TKO.

The card will also feature Jarrett Hurd, unbeaten prospect Omar Douglas and local prospects Thomas Velasquez, Jeffrey Torres, Kyrone Davis, Milton Santiago and Antonio Dubose.
