Tony Bellew stops David Haye in a shocking upset
Tony Bellew(29-2-1, 19 KOs) is having quite the second half to his career as after he picked up a major win last year over a decorated champion at cruiserweight, tonight he might have cemented his status by defeating British boxing royalty as picked up an eleventh round TKO over former world champion David Haye (28-3, 26 KOs) on Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London.
Bellew a 5 to 1 underdog was seemingly losing the fight until he hit Haye with a punch that damaged his leg. Haye was unable to move from the fifth round on as the remainder of the fight saw the two fighting at close quarters. Bellew dropped Haye earlier in the fight, but finished the fight by knocking him out of the ring in the 11th, in which Haye’s corner threw the towel in.
