Rungvisai defeats Estrada by majority decision, retains WBC super flyweight title

Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (44-5-1 40KOs) outworked Juan Francisco Estrada (37-2 25KOs)  in a competitive main event of a card promoted by 360 Promotions, which took place at The Forum in Inglewood, CA and was broadcast throughout the United States on HBO.

The fight saw Estrada fight in spurts while outboxing Rungvisai who threw everything he had into big power shots, but with a few exceptions was unable to hit the boxer, who just was far too skilled for Rungvisai. As Rungvisai relied too much on power alone without faints, deception or for the most part a jab.

Towards the latter half of the fight surprisingly, Rungvisai started to come on very strong as he began to time Estrada’s counters and create problems for Estrada. It was a dramatic departure from the start of the fight as Rungvisai showed a new wrinkle to his game and forced Estrada to stand toe-to-toe in the pocket with multiple exchanges.

The fight was close, but it felt as though Estrada edged the bout.

The judges saw it 114-114, 115-113 and 117-111 for Rungvisai
