Naoya Inoue gets 1st round stoppage, Shiro gets KO win
Pound-for-pound world champion Naoya “Monster” Inoue (16-0, 14 KOs) claimed the WBA bantamweight belt as he stopped the champ Jamie McDonnell (29-3-1-1ND, 13 KOs) in the very first after dropping him a time before the stoppage on Friday in Tokyo, Japan.
The bout had barely gotten started when it was apparent that McDonnell was not going to be able to take the power or keep Inoue off him. The end was not long after.
In the co-main event, WBC light flyweight champ Shiro Ken (13-0, 7 KOs) with a fourth-round body shot KO of Ganigan Lopez (29-8, 18 KOs) to retain his title.
