Boxing Weekend Preview: LA Fight Club, Toka Kahn Clary, Boots Ennis
Javier Molina vs Jessie Roman [Friday, 6 PM PST Estrella TV, LA, CA]
Golden Boy Promotions returns with their regional show “LA Fight Club”, which takes place at the Belasco Theater with a solid main event between super lightweights Javier Molina taking on Jessie Roman. Both fighters have had over twenty professional fights and both have suffered multiple losses. This eight-round bout will be an action affair as both fighters are up against a wall as a loss on this card will seemingly send their opponent into an undesirable place in terms of their standing to make money within the industry of boxing. So in short, the loser of this bout will either have to take much harder fights to stay active or retire.
LA Fight Club undercard
Rafael Gramajo faces Victor Ruiz
Rafael Gramajo was originally set to face Pablo “The Shark” Rubio Jr., but will now face late-replacement Victor Ruiz, a veteran tough guy who has fought seemingly every fighter known to man. Ruiz presses forward and forces a prospect to work and at times can give very good fighters very hard fights. It is no secret Gramajo is neither a prospect nor a boxer, Gramajo is going to come forward and throw punches. If Gramajo can win, he can be a solid test for young fighters such as Ryan Garcia who are on the verge of fighting world class competition.
The return of Franco
Joshua Franco will return to action after his surprising and controversial loss in Puerto Rico on ESPN2 card in March. Franco will return as one of the first fights of the evening hoping to put the loss behind him and return to the form and pedigree that was hoped for him as he was previously viewed as a can’t miss prospect.
“Boots” Ennis [Friday, Facebook Rising Star Promotions, Atlantic City, NJ]
Jaron “Boots” Ennis returns this Friday on a card promoted by professional boxer, Thomas LaManna’s Rising Star Promotions. Ennis is a highly touted welterweight who has spent time sparring top professional boxers such as Julian “J-Rock” Williams, as Ennis is an undefeated fighter from Philly, Pa, looking for his twentieth win in the professionals. Ennis has speed, power and skill, the only thing he needs now is a formidable foe so that he can get an opportunity to see where his skills are at.
Ennis will face a durable opponent, a veteran who has the ability to make his foes look bad, Ennis will have to be a professional to win this bout and also not just get by on skill alone as this could be a dress rehearsal for the next level.

Former Top Rank featherweight Toka Kahn Clary who got brutally knocked out in the first-round of a Top Rank developmental show in Florida is now with Evander Holyfield’s Real Deal Boxing and looking to rebuild his career. Clary was training in Los Angeles, CA for the majority of this camp as he is sacrificing his own comfort for another shot at glory.
The bout which is for the WBA-NABA featherweight title which moves Clary into the world rankings and allows for an opportunity for bigger fights and bigger pay. Clary is an extremely talented boxer, who can keep any fighter off balance, but his inactivity at times allows pressure fighters moments of opportunity, to put it simply Clary is dangerous from the mid-range and from the outside, but struggles on the inside.
Derrick Webster [Friday, Atlantic City, NJ]
Super middleweight Derrick Webster is action this Friday in a card in Atlantic City, which is sort of bizarre that Atlantic City is running two cards in separate venues on the same night. Webster is fighting for the ABF Continental Americas super middleweight title in the main event. Webster has had to rebuild his career after losing a wide ten-round decision to Arif Magomedov.
Emanuel Navarrete [Saturday, Bein Sports, Mexico]
Super bantamweight Emanuel Navarrete is a power-punching fighter in the lower weight classes and his lone loss, he was declared the victor anyways since his opponent didn’t show up to the weigh-in. Nonetheless, Navarrete has a record a lot of contenders and champions want and he could get a chance for a specular win over the weekend.
Daniel Valladares vs. Adrian Curiel
