Miller, Shields and Rios win on DAZN telecast in Kansas

Heavyweight Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller (23-0-1, 20 KOs) did what he was suppose to do against Bogdan Dinu (18-1, 14 KOs) on Saturday night at the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kansas. Miller came in 78 pounds heavier than his opponent and did what he always does, walks forward applies pressure and targets the body and ends with combinations to the head or vice versa. Miller dropped Dinu in the fourth and knocked him out not that long after.

WBA/IBF female middleweight champion Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (7-0, 2 KOs) defended her titles and added the vacant WBC belt to her collection with by a dominating ten-round unanimous decision over Hannah Rankin (5-3, 1 KO). The result was never questioned and Shields landed tremendous body shots.

The judges scored every round for Shields 100-90.

2016 Olympic Bronze medalist flyweight Nico Hernandez (6-0, 4 KOs) outpointed Josue Morales (8-8-3, 0 eight- round bout.

Hernandez is a homegrown Kansas native, who has spent his whole career fighting in his home state making headways.

The judges saw the bout 80-72, 80-72, 79-73.

Former world champion “Bam Bam” Brandon Rios (35-4-1, 26 KOs) scored a ninth-round TKO over Ramon “Inocente” Alvarez (27-7-3, 16 KOs) in a junior middleweight clash that was very competitive. The bout was very competitive as at the time of the stoppage the scores were nearly even with Rios ahead by only a round. Constant pressure and a great chin saved Rios in this fight who looked a step slower.

The stoppage came in the ninth round at 0:38.
