Sacramento, Ca’s Xavier Martinez in action Friday on Showtime
Sacramento, CA super featherweight Xavier Martinez (13-0 9KOs) is looking to make some headway into world title rankings as he faces John Moralde (21-2 11KOs) this Friday, April 5th, from the Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall in Las Vegas, Nevada, as part of the ShoBox: The Next Generation card promoted by Mayweather Promotions.
Martinez, a 21-year-old Sacramento native training with legendary Ray Woods out of Woods’ gym in his garage, as Martinez is the very last of the legendary trainer’s fighters.
Martinez had only fought twice in 2018 and since defeating undefeated Prince Smalls in 2017 for the regional GBO title, the week he graduated high school might I add, hasn’t seen quite the push as others in his age bracket with major promoters have seen.
Martinez looks to change that with his first appearence on Showtime, a good performance here, can get him in the mix for fights against very good fighters with high prestige and big purses.
Martinez’s opponent, Moralde two fights ago faced Jamel Herring for the vacant USBA super featherweight title. Moralde will be the first world level test for Martinez to see where he is at, at this point in his career.
Martinez is the co-main event of the Showtime telecast on April 5th from Sam’s Town Hotel and Casino.
