Oshae Jones brings home gold at Pan-Am Games, a slew medal
Only one member of U.S.A. Boxing is coming home with gold at that is Oshae Jones, the first-ever women’s welterweight Pan-American gold medalist, as she defeated Myriam DaSilva of Canada with all five judges being in agreement in the 2019 Pan-American Games taking place in Lima, Peru.
Jones now becomes the frontrunner for the 2020 U.S. Olympic squad heading into Tokyo to bring home a medal as her run at the Pan-Am Games was nothing short of dominant.
Virginia “Ginny” Fuchs, the dominant women’s flyweight lost a tough one to Valencia Victoria to win the silver medal in a bout that I felt she won with her jab, alone. Fellow team captain super heavyweight Richard Torrez Jr. picked a bronze losing Luis Munoz of Peru in a very close bout.
Other medalists include light-welterweight Keyshawn Davis, who picked up a silver medal as well as featherweight Duke Ragan, who also picked up a silver medal as well as women’s middleweight Naomi Graham who nabbed the silver as well and welterweight Delonte “Tiger” Johnson picked up the bronze as well.
Yarisel Ramirez, Rashida Ellis also picked up medals
Bruce Carrington failed to medal.
The next stop for these fighters is the World Championships in December in Louisana.
