Usyk Leaves No Questions in Rematch with Dubois
It is third rematch with a dangerous and accomplished British champion, Oleksandr Usyk has become undisputed once again, this time by dominant fifth round knockout against Daniel Dubois in one of his most impressive performances to date.
Usyk (24-0, 15 ko) looked about as assertive and confident as he has in any of his heavyweight fights, spending most of his fight on the front foot, pressing Dubois (22-3, 21 ko) and consistently getting his attention with his piston-like straight left hand. A right hook would cause the first knock down in a moment of aggression by Dubois, followed by the picture perfect over hand left that would be the final punch of the fight and give Usyk the signature knockout victory his critics would say his heavyweight career has lacked thus far. Outside of that it would appear that there are no more boxes to check for Usyk, who is quite obviously made his case for being an all-time great heavyweight, most certainly the best of his era.
Now with two victories each over Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Daniel Dubois, what could be next for the legendary champion? Fights with Joseph Parker, Agit Kabayel or even Moses Itauma could be interesting challenges, though no longer required for Usyk to prove his heavyweight mettle. Everything at this point is extra credit for a legend, who has done nothing but go out of his way to take on the best challenges available to him something we should want from all of our champions.
